Hey everyone, I hope you all had a good week. It’s been a rather interesting one for me. I’ve been sick all week long and I’ve had a hard time staying focused on my daily tasks because of it. Writing this blog was on my agenda for today but all I really wanted to do was lay down and rest. I have a final exam to take for my Editing course and I’m so stressed out. I bought Scrivner and can’t stand it. I don’t like not being able to set page breaks as I write and there is just too much to figure out with that program. I’d rather continue using Word. There was a big change at my day job as well and for a while, I was afraid that I would lose my job but thanks to prayer and the Manager of the property, I get to keep my job and my position will be even better. I feel so blessed right now. It’s been such a tough year for me and my family, so I needed a win and I got it.
Now onto book news…
My work in progress has gone through so many changes it’s unbelievable. I have chosen a new method of writing that I heard about a few days ago. But here’s the thing, it’s forcing me to do it without an outline. Gasp! I know after I stated my case last week and called out the great Stephen King because he didn’t believe in outlines. Well, what can I say? I’m at least willing to try it and see how it goes. I consider this a challenge and if I am successful and this book turns out better after having done this, I will become an official Pantser, and will never go back to outlining ever again. Yes, you heard it right here folks.
Don’t worry though, I do not have to delete what I’ve already written and can continue to move forward with this project. But I am astonished how easy and how fast this new method has helped so far. I know you guys are probably wondering what that new method is but I’m sorry, I would rather keep that piece of information to myself; at least until after I can tell you if it works or not. But if it does, I will be more than happy to share what I’m doing with you. Maybe it can help you too. Some of you may already know what it is and are already doing it.
I’ve got to be honest with you. Writing so recklessly is scaring the hell out of me. I’m not used to this but it’s also kind of intriguing. I have no idea what each scene of this book is going to be now and can’t wait to see what I come up with. But I will say this, before I had no idea what I wanted to do with my story even though I had finished an outline. Something still felt kind of off. But now with this new method, I know how I want it to begin, what I want to happen to the main character throughout the story and how it’s going to end. Whatever it is, I hope you all will like it. I hope I will too. Wish me luck.
Until next time…
