Moving Forward

Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything but here I am. I’m sure you all have been wondering what I’ve been up to and how that next book is coming along. A lot has happened over the past several months so I figured I would give you an update.

The novel is titled Blood Bound and it’s currently in its third draft revision and after that will go through the editing process after I find one that I believe can do the job. The novel is complete but like I said it needs to be polished. I am very excited and relieved to finally be finished with this story. There was a time when I wasn’t sure if I would be able to finish it due to some very difficult circumstances.

As if the pandemic wasn’t enough, on December 9th, 2020 my brother David died of multiple ailments. He was sick for many years but after my father died in 2018, he started neglecting himself and gradually got worse. He spent 2020 in and out of hospitals until his body just gave out. Covid 19 was not the cause of death but a combination of things such as sarcoidosis, chronic heart disease, and chronic kidney disease. The final arrangements were arranged by me since most of my family members have already died except for my mother who is in nursing care due to Alzheimer’s disease and my son.

The grieving process is still ongoing and writing has helped me get through it but at the time that my brother died, I didn’t want to write anything. I wanted to take a break but I couldn’t because writing to me is like eating. If I don’t do it, I’ll die. Life goes on no matter how hard it gets and my father taught me to be strong. Friends of my brother have helped me get through this painful ordeal and I also want to give a special thanks to Joe from the hospice that took care of my brother. He would call me every week to check on me and talk to me about how I felt. He was the nicest person I had ever met.

I am also in the process of selling the family home because living there is just too depressing now with everyone gone. It’s as if everyone vanished and left me behind with their things still as they left it. I just can’t bear it. My son and I moved into a new apartment and feel it is for the best.

I have already begun preparing for my next book and can’t wait to start writing it. I have never written anything like it before. I guess you can consider me a multi-genre writer because I never stick with just one. If I did, I would probably get bored. Once again, I don’t feel I need to take a break in between books. This is my calling and there’s something inside of me that needs to do this. That keeps pushing me forward. Writing is great therapy.

This blog entry does not mean I will blog every week like I did before but I missed communicating with you guys and feel that it’s good to chime in every once in a while, to say hello and clue you in on what’s going on. Thanks to everyone who continues to follow me and continues to visit my website. I appreciate it. I try to check out yours as well. I may not be consistent but I do visit to show some love. I’m glad everything is on the road to getting back to normal in my country. The pandemic made everything bad that happened last year, so much worse.

I am thinking about giving my website a new look soon so stay tuned.

I’m feeling creative…
