Hey everyone. Happy Labor Day Weekend!
It’s a three-day weekend for me and I plan to give my current work in progress lots of attention. I am exhausted from the problems of the week and wish I could take another vacation but that’s not in the cards at the moment. So here is just an update on the book “Ascendance”. I am currently completing Chapter nine and Chapters one through nine is introducing the main characters and what their agendas are and how that will involve each other.
I don’t want to give too many details about this project because I always wind up changing things at any given moment but I will tell you that it’s going great so far and I am satisfied with what I’ve written. The genre is young adult fiction. There’s romance, a little fantasy, humor, and action. It’s a story about battling grief, finding your strength, and believing in oneself to fight an even greater battle. It’s about unconventional families, love, friendship, and faith.
The story takes place in the year 2019 because I wanted it to be set in the present time but I am not yet ready to include the Pandemic in my story. I may include it in my next book though. We shall see. There will be no masks worn in this story except for the one’s we humans wear to deceive others to get what we want and there will be much deception by my antagonist. He is a demon named Malachi and he works for Lucifer. He is only 18- years old but has a knack for getting people to give up their souls to have a better life. At least that’s what they believe they are getting for the time being. Malachi’s good looks and charm will fool everyone.
Even Kelly Novack. A young girl who died in a plane crash with her family and was resurrected as an Angel to be chosen to fight in a war between angels and demons. The only problem is, she doesn’t know that she’s an angel yet. Another Angel named Elijah is sent to Earth to protect her and help her to make an easy adjustment from Human to Angel. But after losing her family and going to live with Peter whom her mother was supposed to marry, it is far from easy for a girl battling grief and depression. The desire to be bad is a constant temptation for her, leaving her vulnerable; especially with a demon sent to kill her because she has a very special gift that she doesn’t know she has. A gift that is a great threat to Lucifer himself.
Damn, I said too much. I didn’t mean to do that but once I got started, I couldn’t stop. Why didn’t you all stop me? Lol. Oh well. Now you know the whole plot to this book. I hope it sounds interesting enough to you that it makes you want to read it after it’s published. I don’t see myself changing this plot because I really like it the way it is. Time will tell.
Have a great holiday everyone.
Until next time…
RIP Chadwick Boseman. His willingness to go on doing the things he loved most despite his cancer battle makes me want to step up my game. Now I just want to do everything better. I hope he had the same effect on you too.
