Writing Relieves Stress

Hey there and Happy Sunday everyone. I don’t know about you guys, but this has been a very stressful time for me. I am juggling multiple things in my personal life that have raised my stress levels beyond belief. And I have never really learned how to keep calm by using tricks like meditation. Although I have tried. My mind is like a freight train sometimes and I can think of multiple things all at the same time. It’s oftentimes difficult to quiet the mind and overthinking can no doubt become hazardous to one’s health. But did any of you know that writing can actually help you to calm your mind and lower your stress levels back to normal? Writing can help you to focus, lower your heart rate, and stop negative thoughts instantly, putting you in a more positive mood.

Staying focused has always been a struggle for me and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has to deal with this problem. We live in a society that has so many distractions such as our cellphones, computers, work, family and our own thought process. But creative writing forces you to stay focused because it requires putting a story together which takes a lot of thinking about plot, storyline, and character development, making sure you are pacing the story correctly and making sure what your writing is not only in the right style but also entertaining.

There is nothing like writing a novel and it can keep your heart and mind healthy. I strongly believe that an active mind is a healthy one and I also feel that you can control your own heart rate by being able to stay focused enough to create something.  The gift of creating anything is an amazing ability that can cause many emotions such as happiness, contentment, intrigue, and sometimes even fear. Stressful situations are going to come regardless of what we do but we have no idea just how much control we really have over how our bodies respond to things. I have been stressed out about some things recently but when I am able to focus and write, my heartrate becomes normal, my mind is more focused, and I am enjoying the creative process as it unfolds.

Nobody likes to be around someone who has nothing but negative things to say all the time. Trust me, I know. And if we allow our problems to run our lives or define who we are, we really aren’t going to be able to overcome anything. The stress of life will continue and the part of our lives that we feel we can’t control will always have a hold on us. Making us feel stuck. If our thoughts are always negative, we can’t see the big picture, we can’t create, we can’t see the rainbow at the end of the tunnel. Writing has the ability to bring forth positive emotions just from the power of the story’s creation. When you get lost in a story, it feels so good that it may seem as if the story is actually writing itself. And you know what? It is. Only when you have experienced that kind of magic can you truly call yourself a writer.

I hope that writing can help you in the ways that I have described and who knows, maybe you will find that you have a hidden talent that can actually turn into something great maybe even profitable. But most of us writers don’t focus on the possibility of becoming rich and famous. Its all about the journey and the creation of writing a good story.

Have a great week and see you next time…
