Resurrecting an Old Screenplay

Hey there everyone. I hope you have had a productive week. Recently I started a book series that I told you about last week, but I had to put it on hold so that I could finish another project. A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend told me about a screenwriting contest that would be great for me to enter and at first I was skeptical because they want you to pay for it but after I thought about it, I decided that maybe it would be a good reason to dust off an old screenplay for a TV pilot that I wrote in 2003.

It’s called The Phoenix and it’s about a young boy who witnessed his mother’s murder and was put into the witness protection program after the killer got away. The boy was adopted and sent to another town to start a new life with a new identity, but the serial killer finds him ten years later and poses a threat to him and his new family and friends. The killer is not an ordinary killer, there is something supernatural about him that makes him very hard to kill which is how he got the nickname The Phoenix.

This is a one-hour drama and aimed at young adults, so I am hoping that something can finally be done with it. The first thing that I had to do was proofread it to see if it was worthy of being read by professionals. It wasn’t lol… So, I got to work and started editing it and added more page content. Although I am officially done with this project now, I will proofread it one last time tonight to make sure it is ready to be submitted.

At first, it wasn’t easy to come up with ideas for a script that I wrote years ago so I had to put it down for a few days and start working on something else hence the book series. Well doing so paid off because this past week I was able to get my mojo back and finish it once and for all. If it sounds good tonight with the recent changes, I will submit this tomorrow and see what happens; so wish me luck. I need all the help I can get.

Until next time…
