What Inspired the Current Book I’m Working On

Happy Sunday to you all. I hope the coming week will be a good one as February comes to an end and March begins. After weeks of snow and rain, I am happy to see it arrive because that means that Spring is just around the corner and winter will officially be over. A week ago, I began writing my next novel while I edit the previous one. The Visitor will be a six-book series for the sci-fi genre because I strongly believe the future is all about things that are not of this world and something that I have always believed in and would like to explore further if I could. Which brings me to what inspired this book series and why I chose to write a series after saying I would never do so.

For those of you who are already familiar with my work and my biography, you already know that ever since I was a child I have been intrigued with science fiction and have always been a lover of the Star Wars film series. Although I must admit that I haven’t been very impressed with the current state of the series. I’m old school so I miss the work of George Lucas. I have nothing against the actors or the people who make the films now, it’s just that before it seemed to be all about telling a delightful story and now it’s all about making money.

Science fiction has always been one of my favorite genres and I have always questioned whether there really is life on other planets. I once had a dream that I was left all alone in my home and my entire city and that we were being invaded by people from another world. They tried to take me, but I fought back and it was very vivid and really creeped me out. I did not get the idea for my story from that dream, but it did give me an idea of what it might be like if someone from another world did come to Earth. How they might be treated. Really treated. I won’t lie to you, in my story it shows just how terrible human beings can be and I guess I was inspired by the state of the world and the racism and injustice that has become so widespread and how we as a planet are so damn divided that it’s scary. It scares me personally and I won’t sugar coat anything when I tell this story. Movies and books have always painted a good picture of humans being the heroes, but we really aren’t the heroes. We…are the bad guys.

I won’t go as far as to say that all humans are evil. That would be crazy. But I must admit that I have very little hope for humanity and our beautiful planet. But things can change, if we want it too. But the question is…are we willing to do whatever it takes to save our world and the people in it?

Until next time…
