This week has been a very trying one. Lots of noise around me makes it difficult to find a quiet place to write. When I have to deal with noise and can’t go anywhere, the thing that helps me is a website called mynoise.net. It is an online sound generator that allows you to choose between different background sounds to create a certain mood or ambiance in whatever room you are in.
My favorite sounds are the rain sounds and the one that sounds like I’m inside a Café. The sounds are very realistic and it’s a free site but the owner does ask for a donation from time to time. It’s up to you if you want to pay. I usually use headphones when I listen to these sounds and it works great. I originally got this for doing my homework when I was taking some city college courses last year and it will help to tune out everything that is going on around you. I love it and it has been a life saver for studying for tests.
Using a sound generator can also help those who can’t sleep in total silence, like me who used to leave a fan on all night. I bought an external sound generator strictly for sleeping and I fall asleep a lot faster as a result of it. I tend to enjoy the sound of water or just white noise. It’s very soothing and helps me to relax. You can use it for writing, sleeping, reading or even to create a romantic atmosphere for a quiet evening with the one you love.
I am still working on the new book but I’m not pleased with it. Maybe I am just too much of a perfectionist. I have always been my worst critic. I can’t help it. I may consider doing a rewrite in the third person to see if it flows better. Lately, I’ve been writing this book in the first person just to see how I like it. It’s my first time trying this style. It’s not as easy as it sounds. Especially if you aren’t used to writing that way.
To those who are reading my books I want you to know how truly thankful I am that you took the time to give my work a try. It means so much to me. I want to be a best seller some day and you help me to not give up this dream. I will continue to let you know how the new book is going. Thanks in advance for your patience. Until next time…
