That’s a very good question. I guess it goes back to when I was a kid. I was so shy and quiet. At school the teachers use to tell my parents that they would forget that I was even in the classroom. I guess once my imagination kicked in, I found it easier to express myself through words on paper than verbally. I was very different from all of the other kids. Some might even say I was kind of a nerd. But that’s only because I looked like one, it doesn’t mean that I acted like one. I had to wear thick glasses and I had buck teeth as a child. Not because I wanted to look that way. I really had no choice in the matter. At school I may have been treated like a nerd but if anyone ever really noticed who my real friends were or what I was really like as a person, they would know that I was actually one of the coolest kids around. Nerds often times are and maybe people would know that if they didn’t bully the kids that were different. It’s those that are different that wind up becoming the writers, the actors, the musicians, the singers, the artists, the poets, need I say more? I am an adult now and I’ve been through a lot over the years. I am still considered different and you know what, I don’t mind. I like it. I’m not shy anymore but I am still a little quiet. I only speak when I have something interesting to say. Writing helps me to say all of the things that I want to say without actually saying them. I also love to read books and to be able to write them is a real treat. I hope my readers enjoy my work and if they don’t, that’s OK too. Perhaps you’ll love the next thing I write. Or the next. After all It’s just me talking and expressing myself. Until next time…
